Auxiliary hydraulic lines

Plumb or extend auxiliary lines to run a hammer, auger or tilt bucket.

Why owners do it

Attachments need hydraulic supply at the end of the arm. Some machines have an auxiliary valve section but no lines to the arm, or lines without quick couplers.

What is involved

  • Confirm the machine has an auxiliary valve section and how it is operated (pedal, lever or switch).
  • Run hoses along the boom and arm with clamps and protection.
  • Fit flat-face quick couplers and dust caps at the arm end.
  • Check whether the attachment needs a case drain or a one-way return.

Typical parts

  • Rated hydraulic hose and fittings
  • Flat-face quick couplers
  • Hose clamps
  • Valve section or control kit if not fitted

Check before you start

  • Match attachment flow and pressure ratings to the machine.
  • A hammer usually needs a free-flow return to tank; check before connecting.
  • Have hydraulic work checked by a qualified person if you are unsure.
