Why owners do it
Some factory harnesses use unsealed connectors and loose routing that rattle, corrode or chafe. Owners tidy them up before faults start.
What is involved
- Trace the harness and secure loose runs away from heat and moving parts.
- Replace corroded connectors with sealed ones and protect joints with heat-shrink.
- Add a small fuse box for accessories rather than tapping into existing circuits.
Typical parts
- Sealed connectors and terminals
- Heat-shrink and loom
- Accessory fuse box
Check before you start
- Disconnect the battery before working on the harness.
- Photograph the original routing before you start.
